Antioxidant 168 is an excellent complexing hydrolysis-resistant phosphite-based process stabilizer and antioxidant that reacts with hydroperoxides formed by natural oxidation of polymers during processing to prevent polymer processing degradation and prolong the performance of the main antioxidant. Antioxidant 168 is mainly used in epoxy, phenolic, acrylic, polyester and other cans, coil and powder coatings. Oxidizer 168 is soluble in ketones, aromatic hydrocarbons, ester hydrocarbons, chlorinated hydrocarbons and alcohol, insoluble in water. It will be gradually hydrolyzed in contact with water, but it has sufficient stability in the effective period of water-based emulsions, its high temperature resistance, low volatility, hydrolysis resistance is outstanding. It can prevent molecular weight changes (e.g., chain breakage/cross-linking) caused by oxidative degradation of polymers during processing (e.g., compounding/pelletizing, secondary processing, and recycling), and prevent color changes. Best used in combination with other antioxidants.

 

Mechanism of action

1, the polymer material itself contains a small amount of peroxide, the addition of antioxidants in the inhibition of oxidative degradation at the same time can also produce hydroperoxides. Antioxidant 168 can decompose hydroperoxides and terminate the free radical chain, thus preventing the oxidative degradation of polymers and prolonging the service life of products!

2, polymer materials in the process of heat, oxygen, mechanical shear and other factors, triggering hydroperoxides to produce new free radicals radical oxidation reaction will rapidly advance the degradation of polymer materials.

3, decomposition of hydroperoxides. ROOH + (R'O)P3 → (R'O)P3 = O + ROH

4, Termination of free radical chain, capture of free radical mechanism. ROO.+ (R'O)P3→(R'O)P3=O+RO.

5, Decompose the peroxide generated during oxidation to generate stable inactive products, preventing the growth of free radical chain and protecting the polymer from damage during processing!

Scope of application

1, antioxidant 168 in wood paint, plastic paint, industrial adhesives, elastomers (including polyurethane, butyl rubber, SBS, SEBS), light-curing coatings and phenolic antioxidants Irganox1010, 1076 with better results.

2, antioxidant 168 and phenolic antioxidant compound, widely used in polyolefins, styrene monomer and copolymer, elastomers, adhesives, engineering plastics (such as: PE, PP, PVC, PS, polyamide, polycarbonate, ABS) and other polymer materials and plasticizers, industrial fats, mineral oils and other organic substrates.

 

Dosage and usage

1, generally not used alone, usually used in combination with antioxidant 1010, antioxidant 1076 and other phenolic antioxidants, can improve the thermal stability of polymer thermal processing.

2, the recommended dosage is 0.05% and 1% (depending on the use of different resins).

 

Packing and storage

Packing: 20kg/ctn. After opening the barrel, it should be stored in airtight condition to prevent moisture contamination and dust particles.

 

Antioxidant 168 is most effective when used in combination with phenolic antioxidants. These compounds can also be used together with other compound stabilizers, light stabilizers, ultraviolet absorbers and hindered ammonia. Compounding with other antioxidants provides excellent performance, storage stability and long term protection of the polymer. Antioxidant 168 prevents polymerization degradation, oxidation and discoloration of polymers, has strong extraction resistance, excellent hydrolysis resistance, can be used in synergy with a variety of additives, low volatility, can withstand temperatures of more than 300 ℃, can be used in virtually all plastic products. Antioxidant 168 has many advantages such as volatility resistance, hydrolysis resistance, stability, anti-color change, high temperature resistance and so on. Its mechanism of action is to effectively and rapidly decompose the hydroperoxides generated in plastic processing, thus achieving the effect of antioxidation and delaying the service life of polymers. It has excellent effect in PP, PE, PA6, PC, PS, PVC and other plastics.
